Sid Raikes

Under Raikes' tutelage Genesis Lucas earned a spot on the MEAC All-Rookie Team during the 2014-15 season while Larrisa Carter was named the MEAC Rookie of the Year in 2011. Coppin State also won the MEAC Championship during Raikes' first season when the Eagles went 20-12.

Prior to his time at Coppin State, Raikes served as an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball team at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey. He helped Woodrow Wilson win four consecutive Olympic National Conference Championships and three straight South Jersey Group 3 titles. During the 2005 season, Raikes and Woodrow Wilson won a state championship, a New Jersey Tournament of Champions title, a South Jersey Group 3 Championship and an Olympic National Conference Championship, while earning the number one ranking in the state.

Raikes is a graduate of Coppin State, who earned his degree in Criminal Justice in 1995. Raikes was a star on the basketball court for the Eagles. He led Coppin State to a four-year record of 80-39 overall and a 56-8 mark in MEAC play. Coppin State went 47-1 in MEAC action during Raikes final three seasons. The Eagles captured three straight MEAC regular season titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1993 and the NIT in 1995.

Raikes ranks sixth all-time in scoring at Coppin State with 1,412 career points and is one of only 20 1,000 point scorers in program history. He also ranks second in career history with 233 steals. Raikes earned all-conference honors three times in his career, he was a second team selection in 1993 and a first team pick in 1994 and 1995.
