Spencer McLachlin

Last spring, McLachlin won the AVCA "Thirty Under 30" Award, an honor that recognizes 30 up-and-coming coaching talents across all levels of volleyball that are younger than 30 years old.

McLachlin landed in Berkeley after two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's program at UCLA, where he helped the Bruins reach the NCAA Tournament in 2016. Previous to his stint in UCLA, McLachlin served as a full-time assistant coach for the men at the University of Hawai’i.

During his one season with the Rainbow Warriors, McLachlin helped Hawai’i qualify for the NCAA Tournament – the program’s first postseason berth in 13 years.

McLachlin ended his career at Stanford ranked third on the program’s all-time kills list in the rally-scoring era with 1,288. As a senior, he served as team captain and earned All-MPSF Second Team recognition. McLachlin was a three-time MPSF All-Academic selection and earned his degree in Political Science in 2011. McLachlin also earned a Master’s degree in education from Stanford in 2012.

McLachlin played professionally in Greece for Mas NIKI Aiginio from 2012-14 and also competed professionally on the beach, representing the U.S. on the NORCECA Tour.
